About: I grew up in a fishing village in the suburbs of Cape Town, the Indian Ocean was my sanctuary away from home life and political complexities. I would sit for hours on the sand dunes watching the waves roll in one after another. This piece is a theme I constantly return to: it was painted from a combination of memory, emotion resonance and photograph. These dunes no longer exist in the form I rememberd back in the 1980's.
